NRTL即指國家認可實驗室，是英文Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory的縮寫，美國勞工部下屬的職業安全和健康管理局(OSHA)要求在工作場合所使用的產品必須經國家認可實驗室測試并發證以保證使用者的人身安全。在北美，制造商在市場上合法銷售民用或工業用的產品就必須按照國家的標準對其進行嚴格的測試。只有通過了國家認可實驗室(NRTL)的相關測試，該產品才能在市場上合法銷售。
國家認可測試實驗室(NRTL)是為北美市場認證產品的第三方機構。NRTL是由職業安全與健康管理局(OSHA)根據美國聯邦法典29 CFR1910.7認可的，為在美國的工作場所使用的產品提供安全測試和認證服務。在加拿大，只有經加拿大標準委員會(SCC)認可的認證機構可以開展這樣的服務。
